Sewing Update 08/07/2008

Here is a little sewing update:

Ok I am struggling this summer to really find time to sew. But this week I am able to do a little. Right now on the cutting table is Organic Cotton fleece diapers. I kept these simple. There is no prints on them the only embellishment is the lime green snaps I used and the green thread. I just wanted to stock a basic work horse diaper and you really can not get better then Organic cotton fleece. I had the naturalist in mind when I did these diapers.

I will be next week cutting out Organic Cotton Velour diapers.

These are all Sugar Plum Baby Diapers and I am making 2 in each size. XS,S,M,L

But sadly my supplier of Organic Cotton Fleece is no longer carrying this fabric so this will probably be my last round of Organic Cotton diapers. I still have a lot of organic cotton velour and will in the future be making OCV diapers but these will have hemp or bamboo fleece hidden layers instead of organic cotton fleece.

I love sewing these covers from www.diaperkit.com. They are easy and fun to embellish. I will be having embellished covers at a uniform price of $16/cover no matter what standard design you pick. Also there will be limited FOE colors available as well.

Very Baby Skull Set

Here is a size large Very Baby Snug Wrap and Matching Diaper Set that I will be listing for sale maybe even auction in February. Because of the design on the diaper I had to make it a large set.

This set was inspired by my 3 year old son's love of pirates and his daddy's(my dear husband) love of Halloween all things fun. More and more everyday my son is more like is father and I am loving it.

Ok back to the set. The cover is a cotton woven outer with a PUL lining and the diaper is hemp, the outside layer is a cotton interlock that I stitched on and the the soaker pad is lined in organic cotton velour.

Now wouldn't this set be great to show off this sprint and summer?

Yikes it been a while

Ok well I need to pay attention more to my blog. Today I am just listing a few things I have been working on that I will be stocking at www.hyenacart.com/monkeytoediapers in February. I want to have some fun stuff like embellished covers and some great looking fitted here is a few pictures to wet your whistle. I will be making more soon but I need to finish the few custom orders that came in last week. I will be adding more blog entries and pictures of what is to come. I am having so much fun making these. I do enjoy when things get a little slow so I can make diaper I want to make.

I do also plan on having a few semi custom Very Baby Hybrid AIO's available. I snagged a few PUL diaper cuts that will make some very
cute diapers and I will post those there. So keep checking back and I will have more previews soon.

Ok I am so sorry I have not updated this blog.

First off, all Custom Orders have been shipped and if you have not received yours it should be at your doorstep very soon.

Now on to the fun stuff. I am working at beefing up my inventory on a lot of different items. I have orders in for:

• Drybees Pockets Lisa is great and these should be here any day
  
• Happy Heiny's Pockets, Sherpa diapers and Happy Hempy's Which are on their way
• I have ordered a large quantity of Happy Heiny's One Size but this was a pre-order and will take about 4 to 6 weeks to get to me.
• I am adding Kushies diapers to the site. I want to have some more affordable diapering options and they have it. This order should be coming any day.
• Just stocked more Bamboo Baby Beehinds.
• More Fab Fitteds have been stocked
• Thirsties Diaper Covers in candy and celery have been added
• Just added a the Wahmies Santa Fe Swirl wet bag collection. There minis, regulars and all days available in this print.
• Oh yeah I have also added some more Baby Kanga Pouch Diapers

A change I have made for the moment is, I am no longer offering free micro fiber inserts. Why you ask? Simple, my supplier who had them at a good price to justify free to you, is no longer offering them, so I need to find a new supplier. And there is nothing in the works yet. So, for the time being or until I run out of them, I am offering up a free Factory Second Regular Prefold



What is on Susan's Sewing Table:



I am working on my own version of a Very Baby Pocket Diaper. The one you see here is made with brown pul and monkey print suede cloth. This pocket is not on the outer edge but is still easy to stuff and shake out the dirty. I do intend on offering a snap version as well. I am still working on the pricing because I will be offering these with a Tri-Fold Stuffer and with out(you take the free prefold).

I am not sure when or if I can launch this but when I can I will let everyone know. Also keep checking back because I will be looking for a few testers of the pockets. I no longer have a little bum to test it on we are using the potty these days and I am so happy about that.
